Current Skincare Routine

Monday, 27 February 2017

In 2017 I'm trying to buy less makeup I don't need and focusing on my skin.

I've been using the products below for a little while now and I thought I'd let you know my skin care routine!

In the morning I use the Deep Action Cream Wash from Clean & Clear with my Magnitone.

I've used this for quite a long time and keep repurchasing it. It remind me of the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish as it has the same kind of smell and its super cheap.

At night I use the L'Oreal Extrordinary Oil to take my makeup off and I LOVE it. I feel like it hydrates my skin as well as getting off all the makeup.

In terms of moisturiser, I use my Body Shop Vitamin C Moisturiser every morning and my La Roche Posay Eye Cream.

I've repurchased this moisturiser so many times and I really like it ... but I have just run out so I've splurged on something new and exciting that you'll hear about soon!

The eye cream was pretty expensive at £24... and I don't think its reduced my dark circles and bearing in mind its meant to be "anti dark circle" I'm not that impressed. I really want an eyecream I love, I've never found one!

At night time I use the Yesto Pore Perfection Night Treatment. I was sent this to try and it has lasted me SO long - I LOVE it! I do feel like it has actually evened out my skin tone which is impressive!

Finally I have the items I don't use everyday.

This is the L'Oreal Pure Clay Glow Mask which I love. I've raved about it before and I find it really exfoliating.

I also use the Bobbi Brown Detox Mask which is INCREDIBLE. It literally sucks all the shit out of your face! Its £30 for the full size, but this mini tube has lasted me quite a while so a little goes a long way.

If I ever get a breakout I use Tea Tree Oil on it and leave it overnight.

And finally this is the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask - I don't use this everyday but just because its expensive and I got it in America and I don't want to use it all up!

And that's all my skincare

To give context this is my skin without makeup. I feel like this products have evened it out and make it pretty glowy. I don't feel like I need to wear foundation which is a nice feeling!

Piano Works - Farringdon

Wednesday, 22 February 2017

If you follow me on my social media you might have noticed that over the past few months I've frequented Piano Works a few times!

I didn't want to do one blog for each night so I figured I'd compile the four occasions into one!

Can we start off my appreciating the body I wore for my birthday
When this arrived at the office everyone took the piss out of me. To be fair when it arrived it didn't have this black bikini top under it so it did just look like a piece of netting.

But I love my caged body

#nicholascage

Its from Missguided and you can find it here

Its half price so move fast!

As you can see if its your birthday at Piano Works you get a sign with your name and you get to dance at the front whilst they sing to you

Some people are keener than others..

This is on another birthday when we went.... Annie was pleased to be there...Oli and James not so much!

Look at me getting carried away.. I haven't even told you what Piano Works is!

Its a bar in Farringdon where they have two pianos and a band in the middle on a stage. You can write down requests and they sing pretty much any song.

Please note they do not know any Hilary Duff or So Solid Crew...believe me I've asked.

Its a great place for birthdays as even the friends who "don't like clubbing" have fun! Its not a pretentious club like some of the places I go!

We also went back the weekend after my birthday for my flatmate Louisa's birthday

I wore my favourite blue lucky dress and made friends with the photographer

I would recommend booking a table in advance if you're going in a big group and try and get a booth rather than a table by the bar.

In terms of drinks its a bit expensive...but everywhere in London is! Its not like a night out in Southampton or anything when you can get a shot for a £1!

If someone else is paying though...order the giant pornstar martini!

Actually don't...total waste of money. Order champagne. Especially as sometimes they have £10 off vouchers online

Please note that the tequila shots here come with salt and chilli on the rim...I don't understand why and it is a spicy surprise when you get them! Just a warning!

I highly recommend planning a night there in 2017

Drink, dance and sing the night away.

Ask for Fleetwood Mac and Paul Simon and you've got yourself a PARTYYYY

My Top Three Eyeshadow Palettes

Sunday, 19 February 2017

I have quite a few eyeshadow palettes in my collection, so I thought I would just review my top three for you!

Top to bottom:

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Palette
Urban Decay Naked Palette

Urban Decay Naked Palette

This was the first expensive palette I ever purchased and I remember deliberating it for ages!

It has a kind of velvet casing which I think they've now changed to be plastic, which is sensible as the velvet does get quite dirty!

This palette contains 12 shades ranging from a very light brow highlight colour all the way to a glittery black

You can tell which shades I like best, Naked is the perfect transition colour and I use it nearly every time I do eyemakeup

Buck is another great transition shade and Half Baked is beautiful

My only dislike is I wish the colour Creep was a matte black rather than a shimmer.

You can do basically any bronze eye with this palette though which is why I love it

Too Face Sweet Peach Palette

I actually won this palette in a giveaway and was SO happy. Its had quite a lot of hype over the past year and was sold out for ages.

It contains 18 shades, from a pure white, through the pink range, into terracotta colours, purples and black

So you can do so many looks with this!

I love the three colours down the left to set the eyelid before applying any eyeshadow and the shimmery browns are great for the lid

Puree and Summer Yum are such nice warm transition shades to do a warm smokey eye and Charmed I'm Sure is great to make a smokey eye darker

Although this is hard to get hold of I love it because you could travel with just this and need no other colours.

Apart from (again) a matte black

BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Palette

So I'm kind of obsessed with Carli, she has the same colouring as me, is vegan, obsessed with cats and I just feel like we would be friends if I knew her

This palette is so so reasonably priced, but it is limited edition so try and buy it asap!

It contains 10 eyeshadows and 4 highlighters

This is another palette where you can create so many looks

As you can see it is well loved (and I even cleaned it for this photo) the shades are so pigmented and glittery and the highlighters are amazing

I like that there are some mattes in here too and it has a deep matte shade although its not quite black.

A perfect palette for any skintone!

And those are my three faves...comment below your favourite palette!

2016 Beauty Favourites

Wednesday, 15 February 2017

Ok I'm aware its now February...and 2016 seems like a really long time ago.

But I thought I would post my 2016 beauty favourites anyway!

These are the products I fell in love with in 2016 so I've tried not to include things I loved in 2015!

Primer: One Heck of a Blot
I think this is my favourite primer ever. This is the same kind of texture as Benefit Porefessional, it isn't clear and siliconey like the Smashbox one or L'Oreal Infallible one which I mentioned in my 2015 and 2014 favourites.

Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum
This is my favourite foundation for day to day, its really light and more like a BB Cream than a foundation.

and

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD
This makes your skin look flawless and can be built up to a full coverage which I like. I like how many colours and undertones Make Up For Ever do!

Concealer: Maybelline Fit Me
This is a dupe for the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard and I love it. Its easy to blend and provides enough coverage :)

Powder: L'Oreal Infallible
This is my favourite powder that provides coverage. I want to try out the MAC Pressed Powders, but this is pretty good for drugstore!
and
Soap and Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Powder
I love this powder for setting under my eyes. I either use a brush or a damp beauty blender if I want more coverage. Its really brightening and I love it.

Blush: Benefit Coralista (top left)
I have quite a few blushes but I think this one is my favourite. Its a nice fresh peachy colour

Bronzer: Benefit Hoola (top right)
This is really blendable and not too orange and I love it.

Cream Bronzer: Chanel Tan De Soleil
This is my favourite cream bronzer ever. Its really blendable and looks natural on a "no makeup, makeup day".

Highlighter: Becca Opal
I got this in September and absolutely love it. Its lasted ages as this is on the mini version!

Eyeshadow Palettes: BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel
I think this is my favourite palette ever. The highlighters are incredible as are the eyeshadows. And its so cheap!

and

Too Faced Sweet Peach
I love the deeper tones in this palette and of course the fact it smells like peaches!

Eyeliner: NYX Matte Liquid Liner
This eyeliner is incredible. I don't think I'd ever use another. The applicator is so easy to use and its so black and matte!

Mascara: L'Oreal Telescopic
This has been my favourite mascara for years, but I have a new favourite now...

I couldn't not mention this L'Oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara I have been using in 2017.

I think I prefer it to the Telescopic which I've loved for years.

This is the brush for the Flash Lash Sculpt

And this is the Telescopic so you can see the difference

Brows: L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper
This has been in my past two yearly favourites and I love it. It lasts forever and keeps my brows in place all day.
and

Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade
Again, I've loved this for years. I just bought a new one and I love how fleeky deekkk it makes my brows. Its amazing and also lasts forever!

Nail Varnish: Burberry OxBlood
This is my favourite red nail varnish. Its the perfect deep shade

and

No7 Stay Perfect in Practically Perfect
This is my favourite nude nail varnish. Nothing else beats it! Even OPI and Nails Inc

Lipgloss: Kylie Cosmetics So Cute Gloss
This is such a pigmented gloss and I'm obsessed

Liquid Lipstick: Sleek Matte Me in Birthday Suit
I've loved this for years and its such a nice mauvey colour

Red Lipstick: Burberry Oxblood
This is my favourite red and it matches the nail varnish above!

Nude Lipstick: MAC Blankety
I love this colour that I won in a giveaway last year. So creamy and pretty!

And that's it! What were your favourite makeup items from 2016?

New Year - Clear Out and Empties

Monday, 13 February 2017

Empties blogs are something I always make sure I do. Anything that I use up (or hate) goes straight in a bag in my beauty room...and when its full I get it all out and photograph it.
Then I FINALLY get to bin it/recycle it which is the most satisfying thing!

In January I cleared out quite a lot of products that had gone off or I knew I was never going to use.

So these are included in this empties blog.

Nails Inc Minis - these have all gone very goopy now, but I like Nails Inc as a brand.

Barry M - This is a colour I would never use and I got it about five years ago so its definitely gone off

OPI Big Apple Red - My favourite red nail varnish, but this has also gone goopy on me!

Missguided Nail Varnish - I got this free with a magazine and liked the colour, but its gone off

OPI Black Nail varnish - this is in a strange bottle because I got it in America, but its gone off.

Nails Inc Base Coat - I don't think this makes much difference really, and its gone off.

L'Oreal Infallible 24H Matte in Sand - one of my favourite foundations and I've already repurchased

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in Vanilla - another favourite that I've repurchased

L'Oreal Infallible 24H - I used to love this, but I just haven't used it over the past year and its gone off now.

L'Oreal Nude BB - This is a strange one, it comes out purple and is meant to change to the colour of your skin. I used to wear it a lot to work, but I used it recently and realised I've come a long way in terms of makeup since I bought this!

Armani Luminous Silk in 6.5 - I LOVE this, but as you can see I've scraped the bottle out and its probably gone off as well.

EX1 Invisiwear in F200 - I love this bottle because you know you've used up every little bit! I've repurchased this as its another favourite for when I'm tanned.

Chanel Tan De Soleil - I've used this up and bought a new one. I LOVE this cream bronzer

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer - this is just a sample size. I do like it but I prefer my Soap and Glory Primer

Bobbi Brown Bronzer - I have used up every tiny little bit of this. Its a lovely bronzer but I won't repurchase as I have others.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara - I really don't like this. Its got a big fluffy wand that I don't like and its quite a dry formula that did nothing for me. I tried to use it up as much as I could but I'm not a fan.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard - one of my favourites, but its quite pricey and the Maybelline Fit Me is a dupe!

Bare Minerals Lipgloss - My sister in law got me this a few years ago and I like it but its gone off now and has been discontinued.

Rimmel Stay Glossy - My sister in law also got me this! (she knows I like lipgloss) but its also gone off now.

By the way if you smell something and it smells a bit funny...its gone off. Mascara goes off in 3 months, foundation 6-12 months, lipstick 12 months and lipgloss 6... just so you know.

Clinique Lipstick - I've had this ages so its time to go!

Barry M Colour Change Lipstick - This was exciting to get as its green and turns pink on your lips but I don't actually like the colour.

Covergirl Outlast Liquid Lipstick - This is just so streaky and nasty. In America they don't have testers so I couldn't test it on my hand before buying.

Garnier Moisture Matte - I really like this and it deffo makes you matte.

Drops of Youth, the Body Shop - I really like this but I prefer their Vitamin C one

Vitamin C Lotion, the Body Shop - I got convinced to buy this rather than the pot of cream and I really wish the sales people had left me to buy the one I like. I just don't like the texture of this as much.

REN Daily Supplement Moisturiser - I neither love or hate this, I used it after the gym and it was ok.

Dermologica Phyto Replenish Oil - I loveee this, but its so expensive I won't be buying it

Bioderma Micellar Water - This is very mini bottle, but I've used a big bottle too and like it. It definitely takes off all your makeup.

L'Oreal True Match Powder - I like this, but I used so much of it that it cracked

Mini "beauty blenders" - these are from Primark and I tried them on a whim but they're too rubby and too small.

Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose - I like this and it tastes like drumstick lollys! But its gone off.

Wet N Wild Take on the Day Mattifying Powder - I used quite a lot of this as you can see, but I just prefer yellow toned powders now.

Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain - again this has gone off, and I don't really use cheek stains

Seventeen Black Eyeliner - this is so old and small and needs to be binned.

Seventeen Lip Pencil - this is just really pale and unpigmented and I never use it

Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Mask - I like that sheet masks are so much more available now. I like this one and there was a lot of "juice" left in the sachet that I put on my neck and chest.

Fresh Rose Face Mask - This was a Sephora free gift and I just don't like the smell of roses. I used it up though.

Caudalie SOS Serum - I like this but don't love it enough to buy a full size

NYX Blotting Sheets - these aren't as good as the Kleenex ones I have, I used them up but I'm not really a fan.

Simply Sensitive Face Wipes - these are boots own wipes and they're ok...but a bit dry.

Yes To Face Wipes - I like these and they smell of coconut but I prefer the next ones

Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Wipes x3 - clearly I love these, I've used three of them! I used them to take my makeup off before the gym or just to remove eyemakeup before cleansing. Just to make it clear, I use a cleasner to remove all my makeup, I don't think just wipes are enough.

Elemis Cleanser and Toner - I've had these a really long time and just don't use them. The cleanser has separated so I think they've gone off and are just taking up space

Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator - I really like this, but I have other things to use up so won't repurchase.

Yes to Cream Cleanser - I enjoyed using this but, again, I have other things to use up so won't repurchase.

Can you tell I'm trying to use things up rather than buy new things...are you proud?

Bath and Body Works Shower Gel in Paris and Endless Weekend - these are really nice, but I bought three when I went to New York and they have taken so long to go through. Which is a good thing...but I've been getting a bit bored of them especially when I got new shower gels for Christmas and want to try those...two and a half years after NYC these are DONE

St Tropez In Shower Tan - this is a strange one. You have to get wet in the shower, turn off the shower, rub this all over, somehow wash your hands without getting the rest of you wet and stand in the cold for 3 mins....not my cup of tea!

Vaseline Spray Moisturiser in Cocoa Butter - I always repurchase this as I love it! But I've got a couple of body butters from Christmas that I'm going to use instead.

Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine Body Butter - this is my favourite smell and I also have the perfume :)

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo - I love the smell of this but won't repurchase as I've been trying out another shampoo.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Leave in Treatment - I'm obsessed with this. It actually does work. I always use a detangler spray, but since switching to this my hair has actually grown

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss - this is the conditioner that comes with my hairdye and I love it.

Sephora Face Brush - I have a Magnitone now so I don't need this anymore

Cutex Nail Varnish Remover - I used this up...its nothing special!

Maybelline Super Stay Setting Spray - this is good, but the L'Oreal one is better.

Mr Blanc Teeth Whitening Strips - these don't work as well as Crest ones as they slide around on your teeth a bit. I'm going to try out Tooth Fairy White ones next.

Dior Pure Poison Perfume Spray - I like this smell and I used to have the full size.

Baby Lips - I just don't think I like tinted lip balms... I thought I did but I don't.

Bite Beauty 5 Night Fix for Lips - this stuff is amazing. It comes with a scrub and a lip mask and its lasted me ages. The lip mask is the best I've ever used

THE END

God...that's the most I've ever had. It feels so good to clear out and throw things away though!
