Hello Fresh

Sunday, 21 August 2016

A few of my friends (and the boyf) have subscribed to Hello Fresh.

Its basically a food delivery service...but you get the recipe and all the ingredients you need rather than a ready made meal!

My friend Emily gave me a code to get my first box free so I figured why not try it!

I picked the vegetarian box (find out why here) and picked for it to be delivered on Sunday evening.

You can pick whether you have 3 meals for two delivered or 5, my code was for 3 so that's what I got!

The 3 day vegetarian boxes are usually £36 so that's £6 per meal which isn't unreasonable.

One thing worth noting is they don't do boxes for solo or single people. So you can't pick three meals which just feed one. You have to have three meals that feed two people. I guess it isn't cost effective to just pack enough for one person.

Another thing to note is that if you pick the Classic Box (which includes meat) you get to pick which meals you would like. Whereas the Vegetarian Box you don't ... so a couple of my meals had cheese with them (which I don't eat) but I just left it out :)

Someone was very excited about the box being delivered...

I was really impressed with how well packed it came. The vegetables were in one section, spices in another and the chilled items (the cheese and sour cream) were wrapped in insulation and with ice packs.

The first meal I cooked was Jamie's Salsa Spaghetti with Black Olives and Fresh Basil

Now I thought this looked a bit boring but it was actually so delicious! I've already made it again because it was so easy!

It is basically chopped up heirloom tomatoes, olives and basil with red wine vinegar and olive oil. I think it must be the addition of red wine vinegar that made it so delicious.

The pack of spaghetti was enough to feed six so I actually had some left over and some basil left over. So I just needed to buy tomatoes and olives to make it again!

The next meal I made was Quickfire Quesadillas with Homemade Citrus Guacamole

I had this on Monday and Tuesday as I made enough for two but I was on my own!

As you can see I didn't roll these up and put cheese on them, so they were more like fajitas than quesadillas.

They were so delicious. I genuinely don't miss meat at all as food like this is so yummy!

This was really simple to make as it was basically onions and peppers and mushed up beans in loads of spices. SO good! I will be making this again as well!

The final meal was Goat's Cheese Stuffed Aubergine with Chermoula Freekah

This was the most complicated of the three to make and took the longest but I think if I made it again I could do it much quicker.

As I don't eat Goat's Cheese the above is the picture of the one my friend Katie ate. Mine looked the same but without the cheese and I really don't think it needed the cheese.

I've never heard of Freekah before but its sort of like a nutty couscous...really yummy. I cooked it with onions and spices and vegetables stock and then topped it with the roasted aubergine, a mint and cucumber salad and caramelised red onion.

This is getting boring to say...but it was so yummy!

I don't think I'm going to subscribe to weekly Hello Fresh boxes, but only because I don't know when I'm going to be in and I would prefer if they did meal boxes for one.

If I lived outside of London with my boyfriend and cooked together at least three times a week then I would definitely subscribe.

Especially as, not only do you get delicious food, you get an arts and crafts project

And a car for your cat..

:)

BeBrunch at the Century Club Round 2!

Tuesday, 16 August 2016

If you've read my first BeBrunch Blog you'll know all about these events at the Century Club in Soho

My flatmate and I had such a good time at the first event...that we obvi bought tickets to the second one!

Last time I went for a nude lip... so this time I figured I'd go red!

I used a combination of Maybelline Divine Wine which is an AMAZE lipstick from the drugstore and MAC Brick lipliner

I love this colour :)

I also used Lipcote to keep it on all day!

Outfitwise I wore:

I also wore my Quay My Girl Sunnies

Fortunately the sun came outout!

And we got to dance in the sun!

As per last BeBrunch....I needed saving from drowning in the Moet

So I had to get in the ring!

Pretty sure I still drowned...

Drinking in the sun is hazardous!

Summer Empties 2016

Monday, 8 August 2016

I feel like I've hoarded so many empties since my last empties blog in May

This whole pile of stuff has been taking up so much space in my beauty room. Very excited that I've now been able to bin/recycle it all!

I've broken the pile down into sections...

Lets start with hair!

Frizz Ease - Miraculous Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner
I bought these two as Chloe Morello said they were the reason her hair was always so shiny...my hair has grown quite a lot recently. But I'm not sure whether this shampoo and conditioner is to thank. I don't think I'll buy it again as I like to switch up my shampoo and conditioner. Plus I like strong smelling shampoos (like herbal essences) whereas this one doesn't have a very strong scent.

Lee Stafford - Detangling Spray
Love this stuff. Basically love detangling sprays in general. They aren't just for children after the pool!

TRESemme - Dry Shampoo
Not that keen on this is made quite a white cast on my hair and I wouldn't repurchase.

MELU - Conditioner
This stuff smells really good, but again I don't think I'd repurchase as a) I hate that its not in a squeezy tube... b) I like to switch up my shampoo/conditioner.

Next are teeth and body

Vaseline Active Fresh Deo
This is the first deodorant I ever got... about 15 years ago! (Obviously not this bottle!) I repurchase it quite a lot because I LOVE the smell :)

Dove Max Protection Deo
I love these creamy deodorants, they're the type that you wind up product. This one is not as good as the Dove one you can get in the US though so I think I'll repurchase the other type when I go to Vegas at the end of the month.

Colgate Max White Toothpaste
This toothpaste is nothing special, but I always seem to repurchase. I'm now trying out a new brand.

Listerine Stay White
Not sure whether this is really gross but I'm just not a mouthwash person. I use an electric toothbrush but I just don't like how strong mouthwash is. Maybe I'll try a different brand!

Next are body items

Banana Aloe Vera Gel Aftersun
I love using this aftersun, it just smells like holidays to me!

Snow Fairy Shower Gel from Lush
This stuff is just a bit too sweet for me. It smells like candy floss, but as you can see its taken me since Christmas to use up...not my fave!

The Righteous Butter from Soap & Glory
This stuff smells so good! I just prefer spray moisturisers so I don't think I'll repurchase.

EOS Lipbalm
Love these...but this has a million percent gone off. I have it on my work desk and use it daily...but recently I've noticed it smells nasty! I have had it for years to be fair. Positive...it lasts a really long time!

Next we have makeup

Estee Lauder Double Wear
I never even got the chance to use this as this bottle has SUCH a pink undertone. I got this for free and tried to give it away to friends but it didn't match anyone I knew and I think its gone off now.

Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream
LOVE this stuff. I have the colour medium and I wore it to my brothers wedding as I didn't want a cake face. As you can see I cut the top off and seriously scraped everything out! I might repurchase, but I have so many foundations I probably don't need it!

Max Factor Pan Stik
This was the first concealer I got when I started going out clubbing (not this stick I repurchased it) but I actually have no idea why I liked it. Its so greasy! This is one for the bin. I think it was before I realised what concealer was meant to be like!

L'Oreal True Match Concealer - 4 Natural Beige
This stuff is really good and the colour is a dupe for NARS Custard. I'm currently in love with the Maybelline Fit Me concealer so I don't think I'll repurchase at the moment.

Sleek Eyeliner
This dried out really quickly...but for the short while I used it it was good. I won't repurchase as I don't even really like felt tip liners!

Finally we have skin care

Caudalie - Thirst Quenching Serum
I've used two tubes of this, as I got them free, but it didn't wow me particularily. I still used it up because "waste not want not".

Burt's Bees - Deep Cleansing Cream
This stuff was really good and smelt delish! I might repurchase, but again I have so many I want to try that something has to really wow me to be repurchased.

Body Shop - Vitamin E Face Mist
I love this stuff (I keep it on my desk at work) but I just don't like the smell. It smells like roses. I now have the Vitamin C one which smells like oranges so I prefer that.

Makeup Academy - Pro Base Fixing Mist
The spray on this was really big and chunky so I poured this into another bottle and it does work well. I prefer my L'Oreal one though

Bioderma - Micellar Water
This is the best out of all the Micealler Waters I've tried, but I prefer using an oil cleanser to remove my makeup.

Liz Earle - Skin Repair Moisturiser
Love this stuff...love all Liz Earle, but I'm really enjoying my Body Shop Moisturiser at the mo so I won't repurchase.

God that was LONG! If you've read until the end thank you :)
