Get Ready With Me: Halloween

Monday, 9 November 2015

Halloween is one of my favourite days of the year! And every year I go all out.

So just like last year I thought I'd document how I changed my face from regular boring Emma...

To Red Eyed, Chelsea Smiled, Blonde Emma

Not even sure what character I really am...I but I loved it!

I started by doing a regular smokey eye, using tape to get a crisp wing

I used Creep and Gunmetal from my Naked Palette

I added winged eyeliner, lashes and brows and then moved onto the main event - my chelsea smile.

I didn't do too much detail on how to do a smoky eye as you can do whatever eye makeup look you want!

For the chelsea smile I used scar wax to create the shape of my smile (tutorial here

And then covered it in three layers of liquid latex - letting it dry between each coat

I filled in the gap with this red liquid lipstick from Rimmel and some black face paint to create depth. You can use red facepaint, or any red lipstick really! It looks more realistic if you use a darker one and a bit of black too!

I also used the liquid lipstick on my lips and added black face paint to the edge to create an ombre effect (you'll see what I mean on the pictures further down.

Whilst all that dried I started on my friend's face

Matt ( ) showed me the reference picture of Tate from American Horror Story so I used white face paint, black face paint and black eyeshadow to create the skull

I was pretty pleased with how it turned out!

Now that my face had dried I added foundation and concealer, making sure I used foundation over the edge of the scar wax to blend it...

I then stuck staples into the scar wax using spirit gum.

They actually stayed on pretty well, but they were quite big, so by the end of the night a couple had flattened to my face - I didn't lose any though and I stayed out until 4am!

(You can see here what I mean here about using black face paint to make the lips ombre)

With my makeup done I added red contacts, and bottom lashes...

And then a blonde wig

I also smeared some fake blood on my chest and dribbled it into my chelsea smile

This has been my favourite Halloween makeup look so far!

I also did my friend Louisa's face as a skull and then she did her own chest piece which I think looked awesome!
