May 2015 Favourites - Skincare

Monday, 1 June 2015

Usually in my monthly favourites I provide a bit of variety, but this month I've pretty much been using exactly the same makeup etc as the last two months.

No new makeup faves really...so I thought I would base this favourites around skincare.

Below are my favourites from last month in case you're interested!

I had two seperate blogs prepared on the below items (as they are new) but I thought I would merge them into my May faves instead.

I don't know whether its going to the gym or the weather or just hormones...but my skin has not been looking its best over the past month and a bit and it makes me sadddd.

So I picked up some new products and have actually seen such a difference over the past three weeks.

So I thought I'd share them with you lovely lot!

Unfortunately because I've been using all of them at once I'm not sure which is the "Star Performer"

First I purchased the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask to see whether it improved my larger clogged pores on my nose and chin...which is what it claims to do...

Apparently active charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep dwelling pore-cloggers.
That sounds like just the thing I need!

I've used this probably six times in the past three weeks, and I've barely made a dent on the tube.

It dries quite tight on your face which I like as it feels like its doing something!

The first two times I did it all over my face, but I have quite a dry forehead so instead I've been using it on just my nose and chin.

The skin on my chin has definitely cleared up from the red mess it did look like! So I'm impressed

This retails for £18 or £13.25 if you are an Ebay Queen like me

My next shopping trip was to the Body Shop.

All the Body Shop really reminds me of is animal shaped soaps and orange smelling bubblebath...

They've come a long way since then and I'd heard some great things about some of their new skin care lines.

I did their test online to see which products they recommended...

and fortunately they were the exact products I'd purchased the day before... I did the test after my shopping trip!

I bought two things:

The Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser
and
The Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

Lets start with the moisturiser

Apparently 73% of people agree that skin has a healthy glow and 76% agree that skin feels energised.

Now I'm not sure what energised skin feels like...but my skin definitely has a healthy glow.

I've been using this every morning for two weeks.

I really really like it.

It smells like citrus and is a gel consistency rather than creamy. I do think my skin is more glowing and just looks much better.

The other item was the Sleeping Mask

Now that sounds a bit weird doesn't it. You'd think a sleeping face mask would get all over your pillow!

I've used this every night for two weeks in place of my night cream

This stuff is the strangest consistency

You can press your finger in it and the dent just smooths out again...

It is definitely bouncy!

I picked up a leaflet with the mask

And it tells you how to massage the mask into your skin

So 80% think skin feels replenished and 70% agree skin looks bouncer...I agree with both those things

It is a bit sticky after you've rubbed it in, so I do it about half an hour before bed.

You don't need very much, just one little spatula full and by morning it is all absorbed.

I do think some of it probably goes onto your pillow, so maybe wash your pillow cases more frequently with this one!

Although you should wash them frequently anyway you filthyyyy people

The Vitamin C cream retails for £16

And the Sleeping Mask retails for £22. I feel like it will last a really long time though!

I do think these three products have worked really well in bringing my skin back to the glowy smooth skin that I love.

Are there any skin products you swear by?

I have my eye on the Good Genes Serum by Sunday Riley.

But at £85 how good can it be? Honestly HOW good?

  1. I really want to try the Origins Charcoal mask because I had heard that it's good for pores! Thank you for the review :-)
