January Favourites 2015

Monday, 2 February 2015

I've never got round to doing a monthly favourites before, but there are a few new things I've been loving this month so lets give it a go!

I'm trying to keep it brief, so have only picked 7 products.

The first is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
I got a sample of this in my You Beauty Advent Calendar and on the 17th January bought the full size.

I have used it every day since and am really pleased with it.

I wet my face slightly massage in the cleanse and polish and then remove it with a muslin cloth which I've run under hot water (not boiling...just hot)

It genuinely makes my face feel so clean!

I also bought the gentle face exfoliator and the brightening treatment mask, but I haven't used them daily so can't give my comments yet!

The next skin product is the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Gel.

I was intrigued to buy this as I've used Micellear Water before and really like how delicate it is on your skin.

This is specifically for eye make up removal and is suitable for contact lens wearers which appeals to me!

It gets all my makeup off my eyes, has no fragrance and doesn't hurt if you get it in your eyes.

A really good product I think.

I use this on two cotton pads, one for each eye, then turn them over and use my regular micellar water  (from Garnier) on the other side to take off the bulk of my makeup.
I then use the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. Mostly because I don't like getting my muslin cloths all mascarary and foundationy!

Another skin product I've been loving is this GlamGlow Mask

I technically got this in December in my YouBeauty Advent Calendar (honestly that thing was the best ever).
I got three uses out of this mask and I must say I'm impressed with it.

Unfortunately the full size is £49.99 so I'm not sure I can justify repurchasing!

This mask is made of french sea clay and green tea (as well as many other fancy ingredients). It physically tightens on your face as it dries.

And I don't mean just a bit tight I mean you cannot smile or move your face.

You can also see it sinking into your pores, so you look a bit dotty...which is a bit gross.

As with any facemask, I leave it on longer than the recommended 10 minutes so that I feel I get my moneys worth!
With this one though I left it on about half an hour and actually had a headache afterwards from the tightness.

Day to day I raise my eyebrows quite a lot, but when I was doing my makeup after my shower it actually hurt to raise my eyebrows...perhaps I shouldn't have left it on so long!

Maybe one day I will splash out on the full size, but for now I'm going to use up my other facemasks first.

The next item is in the makeup sector.

It is my EX1 Foundation in the colour F200

This range of foundations is specifically for those with a yellow undertone to their skin.

I really like it and it makes your skin look flawless for a night out.

My only issue is it only matches if I'm fake tanned. But then I guess for a night out I usually am!

Plus you can use the lid to plump your lips!

Next is probably my favourite thing of January!

My beauty blenderrrrr

Combine this with the foundation above and you have some seriously flawless skin!

My next monthly favourite is this Essie nail varnish in the colour Sole Mate

I really really love it.

Technically it was purchased in December, but I've worn it for almost the whole of January, so definitely a January favourite!

My finally monthly favourite is this NARS Audacious Lipstick in the colour Anita

As you see (since I got it on my birthday) I've used it quite a bit.

It is the perfect colour, that Kylie Jenner your lips but better colour, and I love it.

Plus the formula is so creamy and smooth, even if your lips are chapped (which mine always are).

If I was going to recommend any lipstick in my entire collection this would be it!

So that's it for this month!

Comment down below and let me know what your monthly favourites are!

  1. I loveee the look of that NARS lipstick - I just googled it for more swatches ahhh! Great post x

    1. Thank you - the colour is so gorgeous and the formula is just amazing! I need to get some others in other colours! xxx

  2. That NARS is beautiful, I definitely need to get myself one soon! And really helpful stuff from the skincare favourites too! xxxx

  3. Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish is definitely one of my favourites too! Love this post, x

  4. That Essie Nail Polish looks amazing! Does it stay on really well? Because I tend to bump my nails after the first 10 minutes of doing them and ruin my nail polish oops.

    1. It does stay on pretty well. I use the Seche Vite top coat which I find really helps keep it from chipping and also makes it dry faster.
Try and do maybe three really thin layers of nail polish rather than one or two thick ones. Then you are less likely to smudge! xxx
